SustainNK is a joint campaign between North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) and PartnershipNK to ensure those who live and work in our district have all the information and support they need to reduce energy and water use, rubbish and Green House Gas emissions (these make the atmosphere thicker trapping in heat from the sun which is changing our weather patterns).
Climate change is predicted to affect North Kesteven in the following ways.
· An increase in average maximum temperature of up to 4.5C by the 2080s.
· More frequent very hot summers and less frequent very cold winters.
· Summer rainfall to decrease by up to 12% by 2020s and up to 50% by 2080s.
· Winter rainfall to increase by up to 23% by 2080s.
· More short duration extreme weather events such as storms and floods.
We all know that changes need to be made, SustainNK will support residents, communities, businesses and schools by providing advice and information both over the phone, face-to-face and by delivering events with or for you.
